PURPOSES OF CLOTHING.
Things people wear to cover their body are clothing. Clothing is similar to the attire, and it is the fiber and textile worn on the body. Wearing of clothes is only restricted to humans and is a feature found in majority of the human societies. One’s body type, gender, social and other environmental considerations are what determine the amount and type of clothing worn.
Clothing helps in protecting the body against severe weather conditions by covering the body. They also assist us while hiking and cooking activities. Fabric, denim, leather, and wool are some commonly used natural clothing materials.
Historically, clothing options have grown more varied, and this has brought about different types of clothing. Culture and ideas are the key determinants of the type of clothing you choose for different occasions.
Clothing styles are determined by where you are, who you are and the different purposes you want to fulfill. Professional clothing should be formal, but dress for traveling, exercise wear, beachwear and safety apparel should not be legal. Religious and cultural factors determine one’s choice of attire.
Clothing also makes you feel more attractive and communicate with others. Other reasons as to why people wear clothes include; comfort and protection, physical, physiological and social reasons. Clothes identifies you with other people, be self-confident and represents your personality.
Basic human needs are necessary for everyone. You become more contented and enjoy life better by meeting these needs. Clothing is one of the fundamental human needs. Having a better understanding of clothing, helps you better know yourself and others as well.
Clothing prevents us from the effects of harsh climatic conditions like the rain, snow, wind, cold, and heat by covering our body. We can get injured while working or during games and sports and that’s why we need clothing. Clothing helps us become more comfortable as it absorbs sweat, prevents chills and prevents our bodies from unintentional burns and coarse surfaces. The right clothing can prevent you from extraordinarily high or low temperatures.
People residing in icy places, stay warm by putting on fur clothing. These people avoid cold, because the hair can trap warmth from their bodies and it creates an insulator of warmth. People living in places with extremely high temperatures reduce the heat effects by covering their bodies by covering up with long flowing robes and head scarfs. They wear light clothes to cools them.
Some clothing like bulletproof vests, are worn as safety measures to avoid accidents and harm. It is evident that fire-fighters, police officers, and road workers wear specific clothes to avoid accidents.
